AOL Hot Searches – A great new keyword research tool unveiled!

By Mike Liebner • on October 15, 2009

I usually dismiss AOL without even considering paying much attention to anything they are involved with. That has since changed!

I bumped into HOT SEARCHES at AOL the other day and was impressed and thought it’d be cool to share it with you.

http://hot.aol.com/

Now at first glance this may just look like a typical fluffy page pimping AOL search pages (which it is), but it is also loaded with valuable data that can be very inspirational and help reel in some big fish!

For example – the other day they did a feature on

Top Searched Body Detoxifiers:

http://hot.aol.com/2009/10/01/need-to-detox/

They revealed the Top Searched Body Detoxifiers on AOL Search:

1. Dual Action Cleanse
2. Colonix
3. Acai Berry Detox
4. Orovo Detox
5. Bowtrol
6. Almighty Cleanse
7. Kinoki Foot Pads
8. Perfect Cleanse
9. Heavy Metal Detox
10. Colpurin

I don’t know about you, but this kind of data gets me real excited!

It’s always good to know what keywords people really search for!

Those are KEYWORDS we can consider using in many ways!

There must be some volume and they could just be a big fish waiting to be caught!

Good stuff!

This kind of data could be used to help us write new articles, add keywords and product names to our existing articles or just give us ideas of what we might want to promote on our web pages.

Here is another list of hot searches they did yesterday:

Hot Searches for October 15, 2009:

1. Al Martino – Volare singer dies at age 82
2. Lou Albano – ‘Captain’ pro-wrestler died at age 76
3. Serena Williams – Set for a showdown in Sydney
4. ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ – See who won top prize in season finale
5. Jaycee Dugard – Goes public on cover of ‘People’ after kidnapping
6. Carla Hughes – Ex-teacher sentenced to life for double murder
7. ‘The Bachelor’ – Pilot named next bachelor. See who he is.
8. Columbine – High school shooter’s mom breaks silence with essay
9. Charlie Davies – Soccer fans show support for player injured in car accident
10. FIFA – Costa Rica knocked out of World Cup qualifier after tie with U.S.

Now – I know Google Hot Trends has some good data – but the data they give us is RAW and hard to use – this AOL info is actually put into a format that can be used quickly and easily.

It makes it real obvious why the search activity is high and what the searchers are interested in finding. That is valuable! They help analyze it so we don’t have to spend time making the connections betwen the various search queries.

I suggest you stop by and have a look!

Great keyword research data for sure!

I have not seen this, or at least do not remeber it being this good.

Check it out for yourself! It just might give you a thousand dollar
idea or two!

Great info! I run quite a few niche blogs and CPA-focused websites so using another trend watch tool besides Google Trends comes in handy.

Thanks Mike,

I never really gave AOL much thought, but this information was very helpful. I believe that this keyword research would be beneficial to the offline community as well. As an Internet Marketing Consultant I’m always looking for new ways to perform keyword research for my clients.

Hey Mike,

Great idea,

When I terminated my AOL service eons ago I was so aggravated with them that I swore I would never go anywhere near them again. This may change my mind.

Looks like I may have to make a quick daily check to see what’s going on but the keyword possibilities could be awesome.

Hey Mike

Thanks for the information. This resource can give us great insight into some areas that we would have never thought of on our own. It all helps and I appreciate this type of update.

Mike, it’s official, you are a god.

Seriously, I can see profits in using this info as you suggest. In fact in many cases it will warrant registering a lil ole dot info domain name with the exact keyword match of a hot item.

Thanks, its a terrific heads up.

Bonjour Mike,

Thank you for this useful tool. It will be very handy to use with my search engine optimized publishing platform. I publish one webpage on over 800 domains and with the right keywords this gets me seen online. This tool will help to find the right keywords when I submit my webpages, as well as for content for same webpages.

Thank you again for drawing this to my attention.

Angel cuddles,

Sarah
